We exclusively design projects to bring the best solution to our customers. Our creativity allows us to offer an identity to the garden of your dreams. We are used to working with our customers to meet their expectations. For example, if a client wants a certain type of landscaping, our role is to present a project in line with the budget they will submit to us.

The landscape consultant plays a key role in the landscaping process because he knows how to work the space.

The landscaper will lead the teams and ensure the success of your garden project. The landscape designer that I am works as the architect for your home, I know how to use space, how to create volumes, how to divide space, how to create different places etc…

We are used to working with foreign customers and therefore all reports are made by email with a sending of photos which justify the progress of the work.

For more than 25 years BDM has been creating Mediterranean gardens accompanied by testimonials from its customers. Over time, clients have become friends who recommend his work for its creativity and seriousness, and above all for this “French elegance” as they say.

The profession of landscape architect is very broad since it encompasses everything related to landscape. It ranges from the pruner to the phyto xxx, from the plant trimmer to the stump remover, from the acrobat who climbs to dizzying heights to the brushcutter, from the design office to the garden company.

The first thing to do is therefore to make sure that the person you are contacting is a professional who corresponds exactly to your needs. Also make sure it is properly insured, this will save you a lot of inconvenience.

When you meet “your” designer for the first time, it must be about chemistry, because we will work side by side to carry out the project that is close to your heart. Confidence must be installed automatically to obtain a perfect realization.

We have always worked with foreign customers, constantly on the move, and very attached to knowing the evolution of the project. We usually draw up a report 2 to 3 times a week with supporting photos to assess the progress of the work.

Authentic! Because the Mediterranean garden is by definition authentic, uncluttered and can also play with a contemporary mix depending on the place and the villa.

Yes ! It is always a great pleasure to explain the reasons for the “creation” of a “creative” garden. Why the arrangement is placed in this way rather than another, why such plants according to the richness or the constraint of the place.

Wherever we are asked. The offices are based on the French Riviera, and we can work anywhere in the world where people are keen to experience the authenticity of the Mediterranean garden.

We can help you with your project anywhere in the world. Communication is no longer a problem thanks to e-mails. We will come and meet you if you wish.

We are accustomed to responding to all our customers’ requests and for this, we surround ourselves with various teams who intervene according to the needs of the project: digger, ironworker, paver, tiler, mason, pool fitter, carpenter, painter, etc. Each of my partners knows how important it is to create a garden for twenty or thirty years and often more.

I usually say that Beauty is in the detail.

We are required to deliver work of remarkable quality. This is the signature of the house and for this, we must demand the maximum quality for the realization of the works and so that the agenda is well paced between each trade body during the realization of the site. This is why we do not work with companies, but partners with whom we are used to collaborating.

You need to make sure you’re on the right track because we’ll go a long way together. You must be convinced of the time, money and hassle you will save by hiring a qualified landscaper.

Most people absolutely seek to do without a landscape consultant, a design office or a landscape architect, because they are convinced that they have this “famous know-how”!

Most choose the shortest path between their garden and the local nursery, to make a very badly calculated saving!…because we can testify to the number of gardens to be taken over after many attempts. But the damage is done ! The money and the time are already spent and everything still remains to be done.

We discuss your way of life, the places you particularly like depending on the time of day. We are convinced that the garden should resemble the occupants. Your garden should look like you.

We discuss your desires… and your budget.

The design of a garden must take into account many constraints: the nature of the soil, the climate, the sunshine, the slope etc… and it is all these constraints that will allow the landscape designer to propose a solution that you will not see anywhere. moreover since your property is unique thanks to these constraints.

The client, on the other hand, has only one constraint and it is a big one, the budget! This is why it is always important to define it from the first date.

It takes about 1 or 2 hours. It can be longer if necessary.

Of course ! Brigitte DEMATTEIS will be the reference contact for your project. From the first meeting, to the turnkey garden, it is Brigitte DEMATTEIS who takes care of everything, the choice of plants and their location on the ground according to the drawing representation.

Different options are available to the customer. Some want drawing representations and photomontages to create their own garden, it is extremely rare but it has happened! I dare not say that it was necessary to start all over again each time, but it is an option that the customer can consider if he wishes… and if he thinks he has the famous know-how!

BDM has a very particular way of working with graphic representations. It offers more realistic photomontages than if the project were carried out.

People love architectural drawings but rarely know how to interpret them. It was after a very large property of 18 hectares that Brigitte was confronted with this problem for the first time. The client’s request was for a landscaped swimming pool situated on a huge hill overlooking the bay of St Tropez and the more drawings were provided, the less the client understood. It was in the face of such an inability to communicate that BDM discovered this method almost by chance, which has now become its signature for a very long time. Thus, the customer no longer has to project and imagine his future space but simply to look at it.

Several photomontages are always presented from different angles, all as aesthetic and technically compatible as each other. To date, it has never happened that a single graphic representation has been refused since BDM offers a large quantity of them.

Our offices are contacted for all types of landscaping, from the largest to the smallest, from 18 hectares to 4 m2 for the Cabris pharmacy, because for us there are no small or large gardens but quite simply people who are tired of making mistakes and who finally want to have a real garden that they will never come back to.

Of course. The customer is the owner of the graphic representations and drawings provided by our workshop. Just as one can choose his teams of masons to build his house according to the architect’s plans, the client can do the same for his garden, with site monitoring or not. All solutions are possible since the goal is to satisfy the customer’s request.

This is what is achieved in 99% of cases because directing the project from start to finish allows the client to avoid all the pitfalls, waste of time, errors, bad choices, inappropriate technicality And many more.

A mason will have a knack for mounting the stone walls, the painter has a brushstroke and a palette of his own, the landscaper that I am will position the plants with “his” knack and it is this trick of hand which will give the soul of the garden.

Designing a small space is just as difficult to achieve as designing a huge space. The technique is as you understand, diametrically opposed and just as interesting. The advantage of a large garden is that it renders the design work of the landscaper, and therefore his creativity, in a more grandiose way.

The representation by drawing is accompanied by the designation of the plants and a quantitative description. This is a fairly precise list since this description also notes the strength of the plants that the landscape designer wishes to place in the future garden and it is this combination that makes it possible to quantify the cost of the garden. The garden company (just like the mason with the architect) will rely on this designation to provide the estimate accompanied by the various other estimates for lighting, watering, masonry.

The work provided by Brigitte DEMATTEIS’ studio offers “her” signature through her hyper-realistic photomontages. Many representations are offered only for gates, entrances, swimming pools, pool houses, in fact various places of the property. Many customers who want to build a swimming pool wonder which is the most suitable place in the garden for this future location. They are afraid of making a mistake and are right. This is how I work in partnership with pool designers to allow their customers to be able to choose the future shape, the future color of the water, the future location of their pool in complete peace of mind.

Yes. It is important to work without surprises. From the first appointment, everything is notified and quantified with the amount of fees to be collected. My work only begins after the client’s agreement.

To this question, I must provide several answers. There are different degrees of study for this profession which is very poorly protected.

Recently, the gardener has become a landscaper (which is normal since he works in the landscape) and as a result, the design offices had to differentiate themselves. This is how we have seen the appearance of a number of new “designations” such as landscaper-consultants, gardener-landscaper, and I am certainly forgetting some.

The landscape architect has a diploma which certifies certain skills as the apprentice landscape architect will have a certificate at the end of his studies. Many are mainly self-taught like me, and on this subject, in my defense, I would like to explain that I have never had the slightest regret in considering myself as a full-fledged landscaper, this insofar as I can affirm that creativity is not I don’t learn at school and the proof is with the very best landscapers on the planet who have given me the same path.

To end this chapter, I will make a comparison with the starred chefs who make our gastronomy known throughout the world. All these big names are neither more nor less than creative people, some of whom have learned from their grandmothers, others from their former bosses… and the others… a little less starred, also cook… with a little less creativity.

We invoice monthly based on the progress of the design work.

Brigitte DEMATTEIS gives you a rough idea of the budget based on your design expectations.

We offer you options and alternatives. We will never impose it on you. You are free to choose the rates of a cheaper landscaper and keep control over your investment.

The first meeting is free. Travel expenses may be invoiced and then deductible as soon as the project is signed. If a trip abroad is to be considered, reasonable costs will be considered.

From our first meeting, the amount of the fees will be proposed and the client will have time for the reflection he wishes. As soon as the agreement is signed and a deposit, the work on the photomontages can begin.

We are used to working in harmony with the nurserymen of the region and this according to the place of the landscaping. Depending on the size of the project, we travel to Italy or Spain to choose the exceptional plants and subjects ourselves.

They are two totally different jobs. The architect works on shapes and volumes. The landscape designer works the forms and volumes with living matter, that is to say that it is essential to know the future of the plants placed in such a place to obtain the desired effect, and to know how to play with the shadow and the light.

This is why I always say that creating a garden is a “living” art.

The architect and the landscaper often work hand in hand because the garden is an extension of the house. The two are difficult to separate.

T

he gardens of BDM have the signature of the Mediterranean garden, that is to say an evergreen garden since the Mediterranean climate makes it possible to work with evergreen plants. Brigitte Dematteis always emphasizes that a garden is created with a base of around twenty plants and that it is the different associations that each time present different aspects of the garden. The proof is when we look at the creations of BDM. No garden is alike, each offers a soul of its own while the plants used are always the same with a few variations.

The comparison can be made with the maestros of French cuisine. All these starred chefs… and the others, work with the same base of ingredients. The only difference is “creativity”.

Of course and gladly since the basic structure will be done. Your favorite plants will easily find their place in an environment designed for them. And thanks to the graphic representations, you will understand the potential of your future garden with your favorite plants if you wish.

The various presentations of photomontages will confirm the style you want.

The graphic representation makes it possible to dialogue, to exchange with the customer. The representation by drawing is purely technical. Drawn by hand, in the good old rotring, it allows you to “put” the technical thoughts on paper and will allow each trade to provide a precise estimate and then later, during the realization of the garden to direct and coordinate the teams.

A fortnight to three weeks as soon as our agreement is concluded. The photomontages will thus make it possible to establish a dialogue between the client and the landscaper. The client on one side understands the different ways to treat his garden and the landscaper notes the preferences of the client. This purely creative stage will make it possible to move on to the next stage, the technical stage, that of representation by drawing.
